Faculty of Dentistry Laboratories
Preclinical Laboratory
Practical training in dental education consists of highly interconnected preclinical and clinical applications. At our faculty, preclinical education begins with the “manipulation” course, which aims to teach dental morphology and develop manual skills.
In the practical component, within the Preclinical Laboratory, students apply the morphology they have learned using materials such as soap, plaster, and wax. Thanks to the camera and audio system located at the instructor’s desk, our students can simultaneously watch the practical demonstrations and instructions of the teaching staff on the monitors at their individual workstations and perform their own applications.
Phantom Laboratory
This is a preclinical laboratory arranged to enable modern education, where dental students carry out practical applications to put their theoretical knowledge into practice and improve their manual skills.
The phantom unit system is a simulation system where various dental treatment procedures and scientific studies are performed. At the Faculty of Dentistry of Eastern Mediterranean University, students are provided with a realistic experience in Phantom Laboratories before treating real patients, allowing them to practice working in correct positions on models.
In this way, students develop their psychomotor and manual skills. After completing the first two years with intensive preclinical education, students begin their clinical training in the third year, having gained the knowledge and skills necessary to treat patients under the supervision of faculty members.
Anatomy Laboratory
Practical Hall:
In the laboratory, students combine their theoretical knowledge with visual learning through models and mannequins. This helps them better understand the anatomical structure of the human body. They can more easily grasp how organs come together to form systems and how they are positioned relative to each other.
Dissection Hall:
Designed with a ventilation system that poses no risk to human health, this hall accommodates 10 students at a time. It includes two main dissection tables, two auxiliary dissection tables, a dissection recording system, a cadaver pool capable of preserving three cadavers, and a cadaver washing unit.
Basic Sciences Laboratories
Laboratory applications of the Basic Sciences courses in the dentistry program are carried out in fully equipped, world-standard laboratories within the relevant units of Eastern Mediterranean University.
